SRO announces signing of V2 - the evolution of The Ventures.

With great pride, SRO Productions announces the agreement between the band V2 and SRO for exclusive booking services.  V2 is a modern four piece instrumental rock group launched in 2014 by Bob Spalding and Leon Taylor, members of the iconic instrumental surf rock band, The Ventures. Their desire is to preserve and advance the “Art of the Rock Instrumental” by performing the timeless hits of The Ventures and other groups from the 50’s and 60’s.  Members include Bob Spalding, Lead Guitar, Leon Taylor, Drums, Ian Spalding, Rhythm Guitar and Luke Griffin, Bass.

In 2008 Bob and Leon performed with The Ventures at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction where they were joined by the Paul Shaefer CBS Orchestra to perform "Hawaii Five-0, as well as their iconic instrumental classic "Walk-Don't Run."  Bob and Leon have now spent a number of years each performing internationally and recording with The Ventures.

The dedication of V2 to take instrumental rock music into a new era is an exciting aspect of this group.  Paying homage to the great music of The Ventures, George Tomsco and the Fireballs, Dick Dale, The Champs, Tornados and The Shadows.  Often referred to as "surf music" the V2 style will expand beyond as The Ventures did.

V2 will begin booking tours in the U.S. and beyond starting in 2015.  Packaged shows with other iconic bands of this genre are in the plans as well.

V2  is kicking off a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo on February 23rd to raise funds towards producing a debut album and to introduce itself to a worldwide fan base.  The album will feature a balanced mix of classic instrumentals as well as new compositions.  Featured guest artists on the album will include Eric Johnson (Out Of Limits, Pipeline), Adrian Belew (Telstar), and George Tomsco (Bulldog).  Tracking for the album will begin in May 2015 under the direction of Grammy-nominated producer, Chris “Frenchie” Smith.  Perk offerings at various levels will include: Limited vinyl release; V2 limited edition Couch guitar strap (created only for the campaign and for featured musical guests); concert tickets; signed and numbered color print; private guitar lesson with Bob Spalding. There will also be limited perks such as picking a classic instrumental for V2 to record for the crowdfunded edition on the album (limit 3) and an Executive Producer credit (limit 4).

2014 Corvette Unveiled at Jim Glover Chevrolet

SRO loves grand openings, ribbon cuttings, ship launchings, ticker-tape parades and especially unveilings.  On October 4th, SRO helped Jim Glover Chevrolet unveil the amazing new 2014 Corvette Sting Ray in an exciting showroom ceremony.  Jared Glover did the honors following a dramatic video presentation that paid homage to "Six Generations of Muscle."  Photos by J.Shelton Photography

Jake The Diamond Dog back in the Major Leagues

One of SRO's longest running sport entertainment acts is a dog. Jake "The Diamond Dog" has traveled North America performing in ball parks to the delight of fans since the early 90's. Owner/trainer Jeff "Dog Man" Marchal has devoted all these years to training, driving and living in hotels with 4 generations of Jakes. This is a perfect family-friendly, slightly quirky type act that is perfect for the minor league circuit. Like all other barnstorming acts, a trip to the majors is rare. You'll never see Jake's inflatable dog house sitting in foul territory of Yankee Stadium like it does at every level of minor league ball. But that hasn't stopped the Cleveland Indians. Five years ago they created a promotional day call "Puppylooza." Jake was invited to do as many of his routines as Major League Baseball would allow. He doesn't get to play bat boy like he does in the majors but he does take the first ball to the mound, plays Frisbee toss in left field, flowers to the Sweetheart of the Game, leads the on-field Dog Parade and then gives paw print autographs in the concourse. All in a dog-days work.

Myron Noodleman and SRO Productions Reunite

The reigning Clown Prince of Baseball, Myron Noodleman, has returned to the booking agency he started his career with nearly two decades ago.

Broken Arrow resident and former Union High School math teacher, Rick Hader (uncle of actor Bill Hader), first met SRO President Jon Terry in the early 90’s when Rick was first doing his Noodleman character at Tulsa Ambush professional indoor soccer games at the Fairgrounds Pavilion. When Terry left the Ambush administration, he and Hader went to their first Baseball Winter Meetings in 1994 where Noodleman was an instant hit.

Over the next 14 years, Myron barnstormed North America performing at ballparks and arenas from coast to coast performing from 50 to 70 games per year. The character was well-suited for corporate events also, and SRO booked him whenever possible.
Despite a move to another agency about four years ago, Hader and Terry kept a good relationship, making the move back together a smooth one.

During their initial years together, Myron Noodleman became a mainstay tradition in national sports entertainment. He was named the new Clown Prince of Baseball in 2004 following in the foot steps of the great Max Patkin. In the ultimate sign of sports success, a bobblehead in his image, was also issue during this time.

SRO will immediately begin bookings for the 2013/14 basketball season and also for the 2014 baseball season. The two will once again attend the Baseball Winter Meetings in December – this year at Disney World in Orlando.

The Prodigal Nerd has returned and SRO couldn’t be happier.
